We are immensely excited to welcome all our new Year 7 students to St Wilfrid’s in September 2021!
I am delighted to welcome you. We are incredibly proud of our community, students, supportive parents, staff and governors. All of us work together to make St Wilfrid’s a safe and enjoyable place to learn. At St Wilfrid’s we have high standards at the heart of all we do. We encourage our students to achieve the best they can across every area of school. A rich and broad curriculum provides high quality education and a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
Our aim is for our students to be confident, caring, resilient young adults with a desire to learn and achieve the best they can, in all they do.
Under normal circumstances – students would have had 2 full Transition Days with us, meeting other students in their new forms, meeting their Form Tutor and having taster sessions in different subjects. This would have led to a Parents’ Transition Evening today (Thursday 8th July 2021).
We’re sorry that these events have not been able to take place, due to covid restrictions.
However, to make sure that students feel as familiar as possible with St Wilfrid’s before September – we have the following resources available:
– Introduction from Mr Iain McCabe (Assistant Headteacher – Transition)
– Headteacher’s Message from Mr Philip Dore
– Head of Year Message – Miss Vicky Watson (Head of Year 7 in September)
– Tour of the School with Mr Ben Everett (Head of Current Year 7)
– Open Evening Video – featuring interviews with students and staff
– Head of Year Assembly – Miss Vicky Watson (Head of Year 7 in September)
On Friday (9th July 2021) we will send out communication about Form Groups.
I’m also delighted to announce that our Summer School 2021 is now free for any Year 6 student who is coming to St Wilfrid’s in September. It will run from Monday 2nd August to Friday 6th August 2021, inclusive. This will take place on the school site and will be organised and supervised by St Wilfrid’s staff. The summer school will provide opportunities for students in Year 6 to engage in team building, creative and fun extra-curricular games and activities whilst reaffirming traditional learning in a fun & interactive learning environment. Each day will be scheduled from 8.30am until 3pm. To book please follow this link: summer-school-2021 the deadline to apply for a place is Monday 12th July.
