This is an opportunity to join us in making a significant difference to the students at St Wilfrid’s.

As lead Science technician, the successful applicant will act as direct liaison between the teaching and technical teams within the Science faculty, and the wider support staff in school. In addition to supporting teaching colleagues within the department, the lead Science technician will work closely with the Head of Science to plan and implement innovative approaches to improve operational and safety systems/procedures within the Science faculty. This will include those relating to the use of IT based systems, and statutory health and safety guidelines. The successful candidate will additionally have managerial responsibilities for the operational running of the technical team and facilities within Science, leading our technicians in their day to day and long term duties, providing strategic oversight, whilst managing resources and inventory.

Other duties will include the collation and preparation of teaching resources, management of inventory, laboratory and apparatus servicing/repair, an awareness of and responsibility for in lesson and departmental health and safety, related administration, and the support of the school’s wider catholic ethos of community and opportunity for all. As a member of the Science team, the successful candidate will also play a crucial role in the wide ranging and ever expanding extra-curricular offer within the faculty.
