SCIENCE TECHNICIAN

Temporary position to cover a period of maternity leave

 Science is a warm and enthusiastic department, working within a caring Catholic community, where the celebration of our student’s talents and passions are paramount to everything we do. With over 20 members of staff (teaching across all three scientific disciplines in Key Stages 3-5), we are excited to work with a highly motivated and enthusiastic applicant, who can further enhance our wide-ranging Science curriculum. You will also play a key role in helping to further develop an existing culture for engaging practical science, both in lessons and extracurricular enrichment.

Duties will include the collation and preparation of teaching resources, management of inventory, laboratory and apparatus servicing/repair, an awareness of and responsibility for in lesson and departmental health and safety, related administration, and the support of the school’s wider catholic ethos of community and opportunity for all.

It is essential that applicants possess the following;

  • Grade C or above in GCSE (or equivalent) Science, English and Mathematics
  • A wide range of technical and scientific skills, including knowledge of current codes of practice and legislation relating to Science education.
  • A desire to develop professionally through CPD initiatives.
  • Prior experience of working within a Science faculty is desirable, as is a degree in a scientific discipline.

TEACHER OF ECONOMICS and BUSINESS STUDIES (0.2 full time equivalent)

We are seeking an outstanding and passionate teacher of Economics and Business Studies to join our successful team in September. You will become a member of a small team who are creative, energetic and determined to give every pupil the best possible opportunity to benefit from an outstanding education.

We welcome applications from NQTs and experienced teachers. It is essential that the teacher appointed has strong subject knowledge and is capable of delivering outstanding classroom practice across all key stages.

St Wilfrid’s is a successful 11-18 school with a strong Catholic ethos, set in a caring and inclusive community, where the celebration of our student’s talents and passions are paramount to everything we do. In 2018 the A Level average point score per entry was 29.29 and 67% of students achieved grade 4 in both English and Maths.

LIFEGUARD

 27.5 hours per week, term time only plus one additional day

 Overall purpose of the post:

To supervise a range of sport and leisure activities ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for students

  • To support the PE department in lessons.
  • Operate as lifeguard for all swimming activities at the school.
  • Work with the PE department to support organisation of equipment, fixtures, events etc.
  • Undertake any training required ensuring that all aspects of the job are undertaken competently, including completion of mandatory training.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of good employee relations within school.
  • Work within recognised safe systems and in accordance with all aspects of health and safety legislation at all times.
  • To provide support to teachers in other areas of school as and when required.
  • Undertake other duties (with competence and experience) as requested, in accordance with grade.
