SIXTH FORM APPLICATION PROCESS
Interviews will take place from January to March.
Letters will be sent out in January, giving times and dates of interviews.
You will need to bring with you for interview:
Evidence of your academic achievement (this could be your predicted grades for the summer exams, or your Record of Achievement)
Your attendance record for Year 10 and 11.
You will receive a letter within 2 weeks of your interview stating whether you have been successful.
All offers of a place to study at Post 16 will be subject to the criteria being met for the courses of your choice.
Throughout the interview process, students will be carefully guided on to courses appropriate for their level of ability. We strongly encourage students with an A* – B grade profile to study a minimum of 4 A-Level subjects, C grade profile students will be encouraged to study BTEC courses to ensure successful completion of courses.
Towards the end of June.
As part of the induction process into Year 12, we would ask you to attend a day programme towards the end of June. During this time students will have the opportunity to sample up to five different lessons in order to help clarify the options they have already chosen. At the end of the day, students may well have changed their minds about certain subjects and will complete documentation to confirm their intended programme of study in Post 16. This induction programme will also involve discussions of St Wilfrid’s expectations of students as well as our programme of enrichment.
We see this day as extremely important and would strongly encourage attendance if your son/daughter is considering Post 16 study at St Wilfrid’s. All prospective Post 16 students are to meet in the Sixth Form Common Room on arrival. Students will need to ensure they have some money to purchase refreshments and lunch from the Sixth Form canteen or they can provide their own packed lunch.
We will ask you to come and enroll once you have received your GCSE results in August. We will send letters out in July to confirm a date and time.
