Welcome from Head Teacher
Welcome to St. Wilfrid’s Catholic High School and Sixth Form College website. Our school is highly successful and vibrant and we look forward to welcoming new students to our school community.
As a Catholic shool, we are proud that all students are well supported in a caring Christian environment. St Wilfrid’s is a learning community, where adults and young people alike are engaged in an exciting journey of learning.
This year, we are pleased with an A level average point score per entry of 30.46 and an excellent vocational average point score per entry of 40.30. Many of our students performed exceptionally well and they are now accepting their university offers, heading to various destinations to start their new areas of study.
We are very proud of all our students, with outstanding achievements from:
- Thomas Killoran, who will read Medicine at Liverpool
- Billy Finn, who will read Medicine at Newcastle
- Eden Tolley, who will study Medicine at St Andrews
- Karolina Wlodarczyk, who will read Maths at Warwick
- Marium Tahir, who will read Economics at the London School of Economics
- Claudia Booth, who will read Law at Liverpool
- Daniel Barry, who will read Physics at York
- Courtney Wallace who has secured a full scholarship to study Sports Science at the University of North Carolina.
Our GCSE students celebrated this Academic year with very pleasing results, with 72% of students achieving a grade 4 or above in both English and Maths and 69% of students achieving 5A*-C grades including a grade 4+ in both English and Maths.
Both sets of results demonstrate the hard work and endeavour of all in our school community.
The Sixth Form College provides a range of courses. Achievement is high and the majority of A-level and BTEC (Vocational) students go on to study courses at university. We are fortunate to have a bespoke sixth form centre where we aim to provide an adult environment, fully supported by highly qualified and experienced staff. We particularly welcome Sixth Form students from other schools and colleges across the region.
We welcome all students throughout the 11-19 age range – we are open to anyone of any faith or of none, but our faith has a positive influence on our approach. It means that we have built a community of people who support each other, who see more in life and themselves than superficial values, who want to develop themselves as people. We provide the setting for young adults to question concepts whilst growing in knowledge and faith. We are building a community of young adults who recognise and appreciate the value of each other’s company, who feel a sense of responsibility and care for others and who are willing to give something of themselves for the happiness and the improvement of the broader community.
You are welcome to visit us anytime. Please contact reception and we would be delighted to meet with you, show you the work of the school, the support for each individual, and our commitment to achieve the very best for all students.
