Welcome Message from Mrs McGrath – Interim Headteacher
I am delighted to welcome you to our school. We are incredibly proud of our community, students, supportive parents, staff and governors. All of us work together to make St Wilfrid’s a safe and enjoyable place to learn.
At St Wilfrid’s we have high standards at the heart of all we do. We encourage our students to achieve the best they can across every area of school. A rich and broad curriculum provides high quality education and a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
Our aim is for our students to be confident, caring, resilient young adults with a desire to learn and achieve the best they can, in all they do.
We are very pleased with our students’ recent performance in their GCSEs with 72% of students achieving a grade 4+ in both English and Mathematics. Students, and their families, can be proud of their achievements. Thank to families and staff for supporting students in achieving results that reflect students’ strong commitment to their studies. Sixteen students achieved 5 or more grade 8’s or grade 9’s and 35 students achieved 5 or more grade 7’s or above.
Sixth form students performed exceptionally well with many accepting places at University. We are delighted with the variety of courses that students will study and the number of students going to Russell Group Universities. We are exceptionally pleased with the range of apprenticeships and career opportunities that students have secured.
Over 75% of students from our sixth form are going to university with over 25% having confirmed offers at a Russell Group Universities. 14% students have taken up Level 4 apprenticeships.
Some fantastic grades have been achieved at A-Level with five students achieving a minimum of an ‘A’ Grade in all of their subjects, seven students achieving AAB in facilitating subjects, twenty-one students achieving at least 3 A-Levels in the A*-B range and seventy-two students achieving 3 A Levels.
Exceptional performances include four students achieving Distinction* and eleven students achieving a Distinction across all of their subjects.
We welcome students of any faith or of none, but our faith has a positive influence on our approach. We are building a community of young adults who recognise and appreciate the value of each other’s company while growing in knowledge and faith. Students feel a sense of responsibility and care for others and are willing to give something of themselves for the happiness and the improvement of the broader community.
Please contact reception if you would like to visit us to find out more about the school. We would be delighted to meet with you, show you the work of the school, the support for each individual, and our commitment to achieve the very best for all students.
