St. Wilfrid’s is a highly successful and vibrant school and Sixth Form College.

As a Catholic school, we are proud that all students are well supported in a caring Christian environment.  St Wilfrid’s aims to be a true learning community, where all – adults and young people alike are engaged in an exciting journey of learning.

This year our Sixth Form students achieved 99.4% A level pass rate and 100% vocational course pass rate.  A level results were the best in the 60 year history of the school with 52% A*- B grades and 81% A*- C grades.  Vocational results were the highest the school has achieved.  AS results were also excellent this year.

We are very proud of all our students including David Maskill who left in 2015 to read Natural Sciences at Cambridge University and Jack Cooper who also left us last summer to study Mathematics at Harvard University in the USA.

Our provisional results at GCSE this year indicate 76% 5+ A*- C and 71% 5+A*- C grades including English and mathematics.

Both sets of results demonstrate high achievement and are significantly above the national figures.

The Sixth Form College provides an extensive and enviable range of courses.  Achievement is very high and the majority of 'A' level and BTEC (Vocational) students go on to study courses at university.  Recently, there has been significant investment into the Sixth Form College environment and buildings in order to support students to achieve their best.  We aim to provide an adult environment, fully supported by highly qualified and experienced staff. The Sixth Form of 400 is large enough to provide an excellent range of courses as well as individual support to ensure each student achieves their very best.  We particularly welcome Sixth Form students from other schools and colleges across the region.
We welcome all students throughout the 11-19 age range - we are open to anyone of any faith or of none, but our faith has a positive influence on our approach.  It means that we have built a community of people who support each other, who see more in life and themselves than superficial values, who want to develop themselves as people.  We provide the setting for young adults to question concepts whilst growing in knowledge and faith.  We are building a community of young adults who recognise and appreciate the value of each other’s company, who feel a sense of responsibility and care for others and who are willing to give something of themselves for the happiness and the improvement of the broader community.
You are welcome to visit us anytime.  Please contact reception and we would be delighted to meet with you, particularly if you are interested in supporting our community of learners either as a pupil, parent, member of staff, or working in partnership with us.
